Irish students may apply for UK student loans

Irish students and students from other EU states pay the same tuition fees as British students and hence can get tuition loans, though they are not eligible for standard maintenance loans designed to pay for accommodation and other living expenses such as food.
Tuition fees are set to rise dramatically in the UK following changes made by the UK’s new coalition government. Some critics argue these changes will make it far harder for students from poorer backgrounds to attend university, due to tuition fees of as much as £7,000 per year.
